90% of today’s thoughts came from yesterday.
90% of today’s thoughts came from yesterday - so how can we change that?
Neuroscientist and Meditation Guru Dr. Joe Dispenza says that we live in a constant state of repetition loop where 90% of the thoughts we will have today, we had yesterday, and the day before, etc.
This repetitive thought pattern becomes a belief system that we believe to be true.
Why?
We cement this firmly in our mind day after day through a habitual series of training the brain, but often we are training the brain in the wrong thought patterns.
Joe says - thoughts that are cemented in the brain "wire and fire together"! We turn these into long-term beliefs and biological changes in the brain. Joe talks a lot about upgrading our brains - we can break out of the automation with new thoughts that will become autonomically enabling and positively powerful, not destructive!
When we have cemented the same thoughts day after day they become autonomic. And unconscious. We often don’t know why we have certain beliefs about things anymore if we stop and become critical of ourselves. Take a moment to hold up the mirror.
He’s also quick to talk about just because you think it, doesn’t make it true. I found this one of the most powerful lessons. It means I can change the narrative into a more fulfilling viewpoint and reposition and rework my thoughts for the future!
I’d rather 90% of my thoughts be positive self-affirming ones. And they can be.
Like how we have unconsciously trained our brains into a pattern with associated feelings and emotions. We can of course start injecting “new” thoughts daily. And then those positive affirmations we can start repeating until they become our new upgraded wiring in the brain.
What stops us? Well, why do we stop going to the gym or sticking to healthy eating plans? We haven’t formed a new solidified habit that’s biologically impacted and upgraded us to displace the old one.
We often look around us for evidence that something is changing and shifting. If the brain is ahead of the evidence around us, we might give in and revert to safer more familiar ways. Evidence of our changes can lag behind the brain patterns and beliefs. Stick with it. The evidence will reveal itself.
